A key strand to our work with prime customers who are seeking to reduce the scale of their tail spend is that of total management across all business divisions. This ensures that suppliers are encouraged to work with us in bringing consistent services and materials to the primary end consumer.
Accordingly, we have a proactive approach to vendor assessment, deploying strategies to ensure that service and quality levels are attained and maintained. This takes the form of direct and incisive monitoring, and where required, visiting key suppliers to assess capability and capacity. We will, of course, take our lead from the primary end user, working with them to ensure that agreed objectives are achieved through a variety of supplier development techniques, including on site mentoring.
With 22 years’ experience of dealing with a wide portfolio of disparate industries, we are a small enough company to be flexible and highly responsive, whilst capable of dealing with large projects over a lengthy life cycle.
Our working capital controls ensure that if we need to front fund, or stage pay key works, we can readily achieve this. Recent examples are funding an R&D project for a rail customer in the USA where advance payments were in excess of $500,000.
We are of course conversant with small value orders and our primary customers’ order values range from £60 to over £450,000.
When optimising the supply chain it often makes sense to focus on the areas where the largest impact can be felt, namely the largest spend categories and the top contracted suppliers. We work with you and your supply chain leads to bring about the required tail spend objectives in both a highly effective and professional manner.
